I Still Haven’t Learned My Lesson - and Possibly Never Will

Have you ever done something knowing you shouldn’t… because you did it before, had results you weren’t happy with, and said you’d never do it again?

Well that’s the boat I’m in right now.

And all because I haven’t had a hair cut since November 2025.

My hair cut dilemma…

The salon I used to go to in Homestead, Florida closed a few years ago. For me, finding a new salon has a few hoops to jump thru.

I have Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, so I look for a salon that only cuts hair… no hair coloring, perms, or chemical-laden treatments, and no little side area with a nail salon spewing toxic fumes into the air.

My south Florida dilemma is, there are people who only speak Spanish but I only speak English.

To avoid interesting results when getting a hair cut… both you and the Stylist really need to speak the same language.

I attempted to speak Spanish - once…

I tried saying “No hablo Espanol” (I don’t speak Spanish) to a Doordasher but I must have accidentally said I speak Spanish because the guy started speaking all kinds of Spanish. He had a smile on his face so I assume what he said was good.

When he stopped talking, my deer in the headlights look clued him in.

Since then, I don’t even attempt to speak a language I’m clueless about!

Now back to my story...

Instead of finding a hair salon…

I did something I said I’d never do (again) and cut my own hair 🙄

The good thing is, this time my self-imposed hair cut isn’t as bad as the last time. I was in St Augustine Florida then. It was so bad I had to go to a salon to fix my mess. The Stylist had to pretty much scalp me.

But my cut (from a couple days ago) looks like I put a bowl on my head and cut around the edges.

I suppose getting the bowl look took some sort of talent. But my bangs are so short that the cowlick makes them boing up in that spot… looking like there’s a chunk taken out of it.

When Nikki saw me the other day…

She just grinned without saying a word.

She knows her Momma’s antics well and has many funny stories to look back on. This is just one of many.

News-flash: I have some humorous stories about her too. My list of funny Nikki stories may not be as long as her list of funny Mom stories but at least I have something to go on 🤣

Parting thoughts…

I think I’ll go lay down and try to think my hair into growing back fast.

If that doesn’t work… chocolate might help quench the regret.
