Three Days Left on the Fourth Floor

I have 3 full days here at the hotel before I hit the road Sunday morning.

I’ve enjoyed my stay these past 4 months but I’m not looking forward to packing everything up, hauling it back to the van, and putting it away.

If extended stay hotels are going to be part of my Portable Living lifestyle…

I need to devise a simple way to move my stuff back and forth.

But I think that’s best done once I'm back on the road… so I can see how the transition actually unfolds.

It feels like my time in south Florida flew by at lightning speed this year…

Possibly because I enjoyed it more than being in my un-air-conditioned van.

Nikki commented several times that I’m doing better than in past years.

At the hotel, I love being able to hop in the van and go…

If I were at a campground, before going anywhere, I would have to do the campground shuffle…

And then, when I return to the campground, I have to do the campground shuffle in reverse.

Over the years, I’ve simplified the shuffle as much as possible but it can still be a pain.

Parting thoughts…

This season felt different… but a good different. I’m not sure if it was the hotel, the air conditioning, or just where I am in life right now. Probably all three.

After ten-plus years of this lifestyle… I’ve learned it ebbs and flows. It’s not a steady rhythm and not always predictable. I settle in somewhere, get comfy, figure out the little things, and just like that… it’s time to go again.

But that’s what I love about it… even when the packing makes me grumble.

To be honest, I’m getting the itch to go… even though I’m sad to be leaving Nikki (until next season).

Before I know it, I’ll be watching south Florida shrink in the rearview mirror.

For now, it’s time for coffee and to savor my last few days on the fourth floor.
